Edward Watson Lax, age 75 of Spruce Street, Lexington and formerly of Denton died Friday, July 28 at his residence. Mr. Lax was born April 7, 1931 in Davidson County to Walter L. Lax and Beadie Surratt Lax. He was the former owner/operator of Healing Springs Grocery and later worked at Duracell Battery Company. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie Buie Lax, by a sister, Flada Lax Spain, by a step grandaughter Bandi Harris and a step grandson John Harris. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Carter Lax, by daughters, Gerri Tomlin,Gwen Phillips and Myra Lax all of Lexington. Step daughters Debbie Overby and Marcia Harris both of Lexington, step son Steve Williams of Lexington. 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 step grandsons and 1 step great grandchild. The family will see friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Sunday prior to the service at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
