Edna Mcinnis

Edna Bowers McInnis, age 87 died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Monday, Dec. 6, at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Scott McInnis. Interment will follow at Jackson Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and other times at the home of Lorraine Bruinsma on Lucas Rd., West End. Mrs. McInnis was born April 11, 1923 in Manchester, England to Joseph Henry Bowers and Mary Davies Bowers. She served in the British Royal Air Force Women’s Army. She was a retired employee of Stanly Furniture, and was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Coolidge McInnis who died on March 10, 1996, and by sons, Alan Raymond McInnis and Kenneth Lee McInnis. Survivors include, son, Paul McInnis and wife Barbara of Jackson Springs, daughters, Lorraine Bruinsma and husband Simon of West End and Karen Wilkerson and husband Billy of Rockingham, 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
