Mrs. Edna Morris Davis, age 94, of N. Jones St., Denton died Monday, Feb. 23 at her home. Funeral service for Mrs. Davis will be 11:00 AM Saturday, Feb. 28 at Central United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Gayle Ford and Rev. Benny Clodfelter. Interment will follow in Denton Town Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Mrs. Davis was born March 17, 1920 in Davidson County to Baxter Lineberry Morris and Grace Hill Morris. Edna was an active member of Central United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Mary Frances Stubbs Circle United Methodist Women, a choir member for over 50 years, and taught Sunday School. She was a graduate of Denton High School where she was a member of the Beta Club. Edna retired from Colony Craft. She enjoyed writing poetry and was proud of the fact that she was almost 95 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 ½ years, J. T. Davis on June 6, 2013. Mrs. Davis is survived by two sons, Steve Davis and wife Donna of Denton and David Davis and wife Sandra of Durham, one daughter, Janice Baldwin of Jacksonville. She is also survived by grandson, Te Baldwin and wife Christina and their children, Hannah, Trey, and Bailey; grandson, Matt Baldwin and wife Cindy and their children Ellie, Caris, and Jake; grandson, Brett Davis; sister, Doris Bullock of Greensboro; and her caregiver, Sherry Clodfelter.
