W. Edgar (Willie) Floyd, 89 of NC Hwy 47 Denton died Wednesday, April 25 at Britthaven of Davidson in Thomasville. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at New Jerusalem United Church of Christ with Rev. Butch Conrad and Rev. Craig Barnhill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Floyd was born February 14, 1918 in Davidson County the son of Eddie Lee and Beulah Tysinger Floyd. He attended New Jerusalem United Church of Christ. Mr. Floyd was a World War II veteran of the US Army. Mr. Floyd worked as a cloth cutter in the furniture industry and worked and retired from Denton Plumbing and Heating Company. He was preceded in death by his parents and step mother Daisy Floyd, brothers Toby Tysinger, D.L. Floyd, J.R. Floyd, J.M. Floyd, sisters Juanita McGinn, and Ruby Chesson and son Stephen Floyd who died November 11, 2006. Mr. Floyd is survived by his wife Pauline Gallimore Floyd of the home, a son Gary Floyd of Denton, two daughters Sonja Reid and husband Lamar of Roswell, Georgia, Carol Jean Elliott of High Point, two grandchildren Kristin Reid, Andrea Walker and husband Mark and two great grandchildren Brantley Walker and Brayden Walker. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Hwy 47.
