Mr. Earl McLean Stubbs, Jr., age 73, of Denton died Tuesday, March 26 at Thomasville Medical Center. Funeral service for Mr. Stubbs will be 11:00 am Friday, March 29 at Hillside Park Baptist Church in Thomasville with Dr. Steven Chipps officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Denton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday night at Hillside Park Baptist Church on Holly Grove Road in Thomasville and other times at the home in Greenbrier, Denton. Mr. Stubbs was born March 1, 1940 in Hoke County to Earl McLean Stubbs, Sr. and Maylan Huggins Stubbs. He was a 1958 graduate of Farmer High School and was a Vietnam veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a member of Hillside Park Baptist Church where he was a member of the Brotherhood, sang in the choir, was a faithful worker on the Buildings and Grounds Committee and went on many mission trips. He was also involved in the community, helping folks outside of the church. He had worked as a railroad engineer for the Norfolk-Southern Railroad for over 31 years. He was preceded in death by a sister Florence “Tippy” Stubbs. He is survived by his wife, Linda Garner Stubbs of the home, one daughter, Anna Stubbs Lewis and husband Roger of Sophia and one granddaughter, Amber Nicole Lewis.
