Dylan Alan Thomas, 13, of Emerald Farm Rd., Climax passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC after a courageous battle with cancer.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, March 8 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Smith and Rev. Charles Moses presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Dylan was born August 28, 2004 in Davidson County to Joshua Alan Thomas and Cloie Wilson Thomas. He was in 7th grade at Northeastern Randolph Middle School and he attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Eddie Wilson; maternal great-grand parents, Rex and Martha Luther; paternal great-grandfather, Bobby Thomas.

Dylan loved to play Video games, UNC Tar Heels, riding his dirt bike, superheroes, comics, his Teddy that he has had since he was 3 years old, impersonating Elvis, dancing, playing Bass Guitar, and watching Food Network and Eating. But what Dylan loved most was his family. He was a self-described Mama’s boy. Making people aware of childhood cancer was very important to Dylan.


Survivors include, parents, Joshua Alan Thomas and Cloie Wilson Thomas of the home; sister, Camdyn Makayla Thomas of the home; maternal grandmother, Jene Luther of Denton; maternal great-grandmother, Ruby Beck; paternal grandfather, Brad Thomas (Michelle); paternal grandmother, Patti Joyce paternal great-grandmother, Ann Thomas; uncles, Ben Stevenson (Christi), Brandon Wilson, Trevor Wilson; great uncle, Rick Thomas; aunt, Madison Budwine (John); cousins, Josh and Peyton Stevenson, Gage, Addy, Ryleigh Wilson, and Harper, Harley, and Asher Budwine; best friends, Roman Matthews and Ashlyn James; and Rusty Dylan’s pet dog who he loved so much.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.
