Dr. William Rabe

William Clark Rabe, Jr, DMD, age 67 of Badin View Drive, New London, NC died Friday, February 6 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday, February 15 at Chandler’s Grove United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Derald Smith. The family will receive friends at the Church following the Memorial service on the 15th. Dr. Rabe was born in Albany, New York on April 5, 1947 to William Clark Rabe, Sr and Elizabeth Knoblock Rabe. He was a graduate of Devon Preparatory School, earned a B S Degree from St. Josephs University, and received his Dental Training at the University of Pennsylvania Dental School of Medicine. He completed Oral Surgery Training at Duke Hospital and was Board Certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He served in the U S Air Force as a Captain in the Dental Corp. He practiced Dental Surgery in High Point for 20 years before moving his practice to Asheboro where he practiced until his retirement in 2014. He was a member of Chandler’s Grove United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Thomas Alan Rabe. Dr. Rabe was a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, North Carolina society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, North Carolina Dental Association, Randolph County Dental Society and North Carolina Missions of Mercy. He was a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; a Diplomat of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology; a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; and a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He received a certificate of Recognition and Appreciation for Commitment and Exemplary Service to North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners and received the President’s Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award. He is survived by his wife, Sydney Snider Rabe; a son, Brent Clark Rabe and wife Nicole of Jamestown; a daughter Britt Rogers and husband Andy of Wilmington; a step-son, Brian Christopher Price of Lexington; brother Barry Joseph Rabe of Ojai, Calif; sister Darlene Elizabeth Urwin, of Studio City, Calif; and 7 Grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Chandler’s Grove United Methodist Church, 618 Badin Lake Road, New London, NC 28127. Briggs Funeral Home in Denton is in charge of arrangements.
