Doug "Wormy" Cook

Douglas (Doug) “Wormy” Arlen Cook, 76, of NC HWY 109 South, Denton, NC passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at his residence.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Sunday, Jan. 8, at Alleghany Methodist Church where he was a member, conducted by Rev. Fred Ingle and Rev. Derald Smith. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with honors by South Davidson Fire Department.

Doug was born January 21, 1946, in Davidson County to Glenn Arlen Cook and Macie Bailey Cook. He was a graduate of Denton High School, served in the United States Army National Guard, and served as a fireman with South Davidson Fire Department for over 50 years. Doug retired from Fire Extinguisher Sales and Service. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Blake Arlen Hardee.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Trotter Cook of the home; daughter, Christy Hardee and husband Brad of Badin Lake; grandson, Berk Hardee; and by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service.

Memorials can be made to Alleghany Methodist Church, South Davidson Fire Department, Chandler’s Grove United Methodist Church, or Levine Children’s Hospital.
