Dorris Eugene Shepard

Dorris Eugene Shepard, 74, of Samarcand Rd., Eagle Springs, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at his residence. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Jackson Springs Presbyterian Church with Rev. Suzanne Simpson and Rev. Dr. David Speering officiating. Burial will follow in Candor Cemetery. Born on March 24, 1937 in Union County, he was the son of Paul and Edna Hargett Shepard. He was a supervisor at Springs Mills and a member of Jackson Springs Presbyterian Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved his garden and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Blue Shepard; a son, Kenneth Shepard of Windblow; a daughter, Donna Shepard Love and husband Bo of Windblow; 5 brothers, Ronald Sheppard of Robbins, Paul, Donald and John Sheppard, all of Troy and Frank Sheppard of Mt. Airy; 3 sisters, Shelby Sheppard of Candor, Brenda Sheppard of Salisbury and Nancy Sheppard Allred of Norman; 2 Grandchildren; 2 Step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
