Dorothy Sparks

Dorothy (Dot) Frix Bumgarner Sparks, age 74 of Robedo Road, Mt. Gilead died Thursday December 14 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. Mrs. Sparks was born August 27, 1932 in Montgomery County to Lester Frix and Cular McGinnis Frix. She was a licensed funeral director and was employed with Briggs-Candor Funeral Home where she had worked for 34 years. She was a member of Wadeville Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her first husband William H. (Bill) Bumgarner. She is survived by her husband, Warren Patrick (Pat) Sparks of the home, sons, Lester Keith Bumgarner and wife Judy of Charlotte; William Kenneth (Ken) Bumgarner and wife Patricia of Greensboro; Sherrill Lane Bumgarner and wife Melanie of Troy. A daughter Gloria Hurley and husband Gary of Troy, a brother Alvin Frix of Mt. Gilead. She has 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Wadeville Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Johnny Gardner with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor.
