Mrs. Dorothy Belle Gurley Hartsoe, age 79, of Eastside Drive, Denton died Wednesday, July 7 at Hinkle Hospice House following a lengthy illness. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 10 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Vern Peterson officiating. Burial will be 4:00 pm Saturday at Eastview Cemetery in Newton. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Mrs. Hartsoe was born December 12, 1930 in Burke County to Luther and Junnie Propst Gurley. She was a member of First Baptist Church and had worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell. She had also worked at Casual Clothing and Coles in Denton. She is survived by her husband, Jonah Wade Hartsoe of the home, one daughter, Belinda Covington and husband Ronnie of Denton, brother Charles Gurley and wife Faye of Morganton and grandchildren, Brandi Franks and husband Adam of Myrtle Beach and Heather Covington of Denton.
