Ms. Dorothy “Dot” Mae Wilson Bailey age 84, of Denton gained her angel wings on Wednesday, August 2, 2017. She was the last descendant of the late John and Betty Lou Norton Wilson of Caswell County, NC. She was preceded in death by husband, Osker Bailey, Sr., that died in 1995; a daughter, Patricia “Pat” Bailey Rash, that died in 2000; and siblings: Ava Otelia Clayton, Sue Doolin, Pauline Wallace, John A., Jim Wilson, Harry Wilson, Bill Wilson, Janie Barker, Katy Gann, Thelma Bray, and Irene Markham. She was very outgoing and never met a stranger, and was an avid country & bluegrass music lover. Dot loved her neighbors and was the first selection as Neighborhood Watch Chairperson many years ago, as well as Democrat Judge for the Board of Elections for Emmons Township. She received her high school diploma in 1990, and was crowned Mrs. Senior Davidson County in 2000. She worked for vario0us hosiery mills in southern Davidson County and 20+ years at Denton Hosiery Mill; Commercial Carving of Thomasville, and was retired from Prelude Company, a division of Cone Mills. She is survived by her son, Oscar Bailey, Jr. and wife Lois of Thomasville; daughter, Betty Bailey Tucker and companion, Billy Surratt; and Linda Bailey Norman, and husband Charles, all of Denton; 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren, 11 Great-Great-Grandchildren and celebrated fifth generation three times. The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, August 6, from 2:00-3:45 pm with funeral services to follow at 4:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Butch Conrad officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Lexington. Other times the family will be at 251 Euris Surratt Rd. Denton. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Dellinger and his staff of Thomasville Family Practice for the excellent care, as well as Hospice, and the friends of New Jerusalem UCC.
