Doris Gallimore Pierce

August 9, 1932 — April 29, 2018

Ms. Doris Gallimore Pierce, 85, a resident of Howell Dr., Denton passed away after months of illness on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Hinkle Hospice House surrounded by family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, May 5 th at First Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Smith and Rev. Charles Tanner presiding.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:30 to 2:00 prior to the service.

Doris was born August 9, 1932 in Davidson County to Arthur Gallimore and Lena Sinclair Gallimore. She was the former pianist at First Baptist Church and a inspector at Acme McCrary in Asheboro. Doris was also the owner of D.P.’s Clothing Store for 14 years. During her illness Doris missed going to her much loved First Baptist Church. But most of all Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, David Pierce; brother, Donald Eugene Gallimore; half-brothers, Bob, Mack, and Jeff Gallimore; half-sisters, Layla, Bruce, and Cola.

She is survived by son, David Michael Pierce of the home; daughter, Lynne Byerly and husband Dale of Denton; granddaughters, Kenie Beal and husband Michael and Kasey Campbell and husband Phil; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Gage, and Garrett Beal; brother, Rondall (Horseshoe) Gallimore and wife Ruth, Kyle and Marybeth; and numerous nieces and nephews; other members of the family and friends, Luther Pierce, Marsha Pierce Surratt and husband Baxter, and long-time friends, Fay Cole, Vonciel Snider, Nawassa Hiatt, Farrah Graves and husband Ron, Molly and Joshua.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
