Doris Lax Cook

Mrs. Doris Lax Cook age 91, of NC HWY 49 Denton, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Thomasville Medical Center. A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Friday, June 3, 2016 at Alleghany United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Richard J. Gould. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Cook was born December 10, 1924 in Davidson County to Henry Lax and Lizzie Lanier Lax. She was a member of Alleghany United Methodist Church and had retired from Surratt’s Hosiery Mill. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Theo Cook on December 24, 2006 and by a brother Charles Lax. Surviving are son, Dale Cook and wife Vicky of Denton; brother, Joe Lax of Denton; sister, Carleen Terrell of Denton; grandchildren Brent Cook and wife Kathy of Denton and Trent Cook and wife Tina of Denton; great-grandchild, Keely Cook. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at Alleghany United Methodist Church. The Cook family is being served by Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
