Mr. Donnie Badgett Surratt, age 70 of Forest Park Drive, Denton,. NC died Wednesday, June 1 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. A private interment will be held at Clear Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will host a reception and greet friends at Park Place in Denton Saturday, June 4 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Mr. Surratt was born August 3, 1940 in Washington DC to Commodore Surratt and Eugenia Badgett Surratt. He was a retired employee of Smurfit-Stone Container Corp in Lexington and was a veteran of the U S Navy. He was member of the Denton AMVET Post # 240. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother Bill Surratt. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Hunt Surratt of the home; a son Ryan Surratt of the U S Navy in Virginia Beach, VA.; daughters Keana S Smalley and husband Chad of Charlotte, and Jill S Curtis and husband Brey of Greensboro; a brother Bobby Surratt and wife Judi of Benecia, Calif.; grandchildren, Charles Robert Smalley, Rowan Parker Curtis and Griffin Matthew Curtis. He leaves behind his pet and “best friend” Pepe Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 Briggs Funeral Home in Denton is serving the family.
