Donnie Mathis

Ms. Donnie Harrison Russell Mathis age 96 formerly of Handy Rd. Denton, died Wednesday, June 03, 2015 at Mountain Vista Health Park. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 6 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Kelly Creekmur. Interment will follow in Clear Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. Ms. Mathis was born October 8, 1918 in Davidson County to Charles Lee Harrison and Grace Lanier Harrison. She was a member of Lineberry United Methodist Church and worked as a Registered Nurse. Donnie was preceded in death by her first husband, Sgt. Dalton D. Russell; her second husband, Allen G. Mathis; brothers, Vance, Lance, and Charles Lee Harrison, Jr.; sisters, Ava Moselle and Barbara Jean Aldridge. Donnie is survived by her sister, Shirley Harrison Terrell of Denton. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
