Donna Currie

October 19, 1928 — March 31, 2018

Donna M. Currie, 89 of Candor, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at her family home.  Visitation will be held at the family home on Wednesday evening, April 4, from 3pm-6pm and memorial services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1 pm at Jackson Springs Cemetery.

She was warmly welcomed into the Montgomery County and Candor community when she arrived in 1978.  Her inspiration to contribute was shown whether serving as a census taker, sitting on the Board of Auctioneers of NC or serving as Chairwoman of the Republican Party of Montgomery County.

Donna was a devoted mother, sister and wife.  She was and is loved, cherished and treasured.  She embraced volunteer work that included Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Girl Scout Den Mother, Lady Shriners, Eastern Star, Hospice and Presbyterian Women.  As a long time member at Candor Presbyterian, she served as a Deacon and also attended Macedonia Presbyterian.  She also enjoyed several clubs such as the Bridge Club, the Round Dozen Book Club and the Montgomery County Historical Society.

She is survived by sons, Jeffery, Keith and his wife Lee; daughters, Nora, Tina and Susan; grandchildren, Jason, Dustin, Ian, Nicolas, Amber, Ty and Alexandra; sisters, Deanna and Mary; brothers, Buddy, Glen and Bobby.

The family wishes to thank First Health Cardiology, First Health Hospice and special thanks to Dr. Betty Bradley for her compassionate care.
