Donald (Don) Winfree

Mr. Donald (Don) Basil Winfree, 77, of Tabernacle Church Rd., Candor went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 but left his mark on everyone’s life he Touched. He was a strong man, a man of valor who loved the Lord with all his heart, in turn loved his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends, which were innumerable. He served as a deacon in his church sang in the choir, and was available when anyone called him for help. He always had a smile and was anxious to talk about the Lord whenever he was given the opportunity. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Free and Andy Harris presiding. Interment with military honor's will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Tabernacle Church Rd. in Candor and other times at the home. Mr. Winfree was born February 28, 1940 in Alamance County to Robert D. Winfree and Alta Ray Tucker Winfree. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was also member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and worked in heavy construction. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Winfree. Surviving is wife, Annie Reid Harris Winfree of the home; son, Chad Winfree (Natalie) of Albemarle; step-son, Andy Harris (Amy) of Concord; daughters, Donna Harwood (Paul) of Albemarle and Loretta Skeen (John) of Charleston, SC; brothers, Bob Winfree (Vickie) of Albemarle, Gerald Winfree (Diane) of Richfield, and Mike Winfree (June) of Clayton; sisters, Glenda Wages (Joe) of Gibsonville and Barbara Floyd of Albemarle; 7 grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Zach, Nolan, Remington, Reid, and Cayton; 3 great-grandchildren, Paige, Nathan, and Mason. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Pioneer Baptist Church in c/o Tabernacle Baptist Church PO Box 400 Candor, NC 27229. Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is serving the Winfree Family.
