Donald Ray Smith, 59, of Denton, died Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, Jan. 27 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Eddie Hill. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville. Mr. Smith was born February 14, 1950 in Davidson County to Olin J. Smith and Millie Margaret Hill. He was a member of New Beginning Church and worked for Thomasville Furniture. Survivors include, wife; Stella Hazelwood Smith of the home, sons; Michael Smith of Kernersville and Larry Smith of Statesville, step sons; Keith Bryan Cook of Winston Salem and Michael Ray Cook of Ocean Isle, brothers; James Smith of Denton, Randy Smith of Southport, and Jerry Smith of Asheboro, and 10 grandchildren. The family will see friends on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Astran Dr. and also at the residence of a brother on Moses Glover Rd., Denton.
