Don P. Sanford, 67, a beloved husband and father, passed away Monday, February 7, 2011. Services will be held on Sunday, February 13, at 4:30 pm at Holly Grove Lutheran Church, Lexington, NC. Visitation will be held immediately following the service where food, fellowship and many special memories of Don will be shared. Mr. Sanford proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He retired from General Motors in 1998 after 30 years of service and was currently employed by Chrysler Financial as a Remarketing Analyst at Greensboro Auto Auction. Don was a well-known artist of Davidson County and a member of Holly Grove Lutheran Church where he had served in many capacities since joining in 1977. He will always be remembered for his love and compassion of family and friends, as well as his enthusiasm for activities such as fishing, golf, hunting and other outdoor sports. Don was born in Rockingham, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ray Sanford and Mary Louise Melton Sanford and son-in-law, John J. Alexander, Jr. Remaining to cherish his memory is devoted wife, Betty, surviving of the home and loving daughters, Kristin P. Sanford of Thomasville and Shay L. Sanford-Alexander of Louisville, KY, as well as brothers, David and Larry of Rockingham and sister Linda of Charlotte and their spouses, extended family and many dear friends. He will be deeply missed by all.
