Don Surratt

Mr. William Donald “Don” Surratt, age 83 of Denton died suddenly on Tuesday, February 5. Funeral service for Mr. Surratt will be 2:00 pm Thursday, February 7 at Briggs Memorial Chapel with Rev. Melvin Morton officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 pm in Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 pm Thursday, prior to the service, at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton Mr. Surratt was born July 30, 1929 in Davidson County to Marshall Ray and Gracie Cranford Surratt. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and retired from Winston-Salem Southbound Railroad after 46 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Daphine Morris Surratt on November 11, 2004 and one brother, David Surratt. He is survived by one son, Donald Paul “Donnie” Surratt and wife Sharon of Denton and two grandchildren, Brook Surratt Jones and Donald Blake Surratt.
