Dewey Edmund Garner age: 61 of Carter Davis Road, Denton, NC died Saturday, Feb. 11 at High Point Regional Cancer Center in High Point. Mr. Garner was born August 25, 1944 to Davidson County to Nereus Garner and Ruby Chandler Garner. He was a self-employed carpenter and was of Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Melvin Garner, Vernon Garner, Clyde Garner, Thurman Garner, Kermit Garner and Von Shaw and a sister, Virgie G. Smith. He is survived by brothers, N. A. Garner and wife Joyce; James Garner & wife Bonnie; Von Garner and wife Frances; all of Denton; Nolan Garner and wife Pauline of Lexington; Lester Garner and wife Stella of Troy; Don Shaw and wife Sylvia of Thomasville, and Ken Shaw & wife Kaye of Farmer. Sisters, Patty Misenheimer and husband Vernon of Burlington; Gayle Lamb and husband Joe of Shelby; Ruby Rash and husband Bill; Doris Peacock and husband Edward; and Hazel Snider all of Denton; and Anna Mae Burleson of Belksville, Md. And special friends Janet Anderson and family and Betty Pierce. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Feb. 14 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel and burial will follow in the Tom’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home of N. A. Garner on NC Hwy # 47, Denton.
