Richard Dean Redding, 89, of Denton, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Born in Gaston County on August 6, 1936, the son of Richard H. Redding and Lona Coffey Redding.
Dean had worked in the textile industry as a quality control inspector and had been active in the Civitan International Organization. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and after a decline in health he had been attending Pleasant Grove Church on Loftin Rd. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sons, Samuel Dean Redding and Charles Redding; and a brother Boyce Redding.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Fay Loflin Redding of the home; daugher, Jane Hanna and her husband Johnny of Oak Island; 2 granddaughters, Ashley Lauer and Kelly Renea Redding; and a great-granddaughter, Maddie Nardone.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 18, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brett Chappell officiating. Interment will take place at Gaston Memorial Park at a later date.
