Dawn Carrick Daniel, 75 of Bringle Ferry Rd, Denton NC passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, August 03, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, August 6, at East Corinth Baptist Church, Gold Hill, NC with Rev. Johnny Daniel officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.
Dawn was born on March 6th, 1949, in Davidson County, the daughter of Reuben and Gladys Carrick Carrick. She was born, raised, and spent entire life residing in the Healing Springs area of Denton. She lived her life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment of the 75 years she was given.
Dawn was married for 58 years to the love of her life and soulmate, Johnny Daniel. Together they were blessed with one daughter, Tanya Daniel Rogers and husband Lewis. One granddaughter, Nicole Mackenzie Goodwin and husband Joseph and one great-grandson, Kylan John-Louis Goodwin, who has been her pride and joy the past 2 years. She also cherished her family and friends that are far too many to name. She was preceded in death by her parents Reuben and Gladys Carrick.
Having made her career at First Bank. She worked for 43 years at both the Denton Branch and the Operations Center in Troy. After her retirement, her strong work ethic and need to stay active led her back to the Denton Branch, working part time. She had a passion for numbers and money and loved working at the bank, but she mostly loved all the people she met and became friends with over the years.
Dawn’s favorite past time was traveling, she coordinated “Gone with Dawn” bus trips for over 30 years vacationing to over 30 states with 200 or more friends. Her favorite vacation location was Walt Disney World, which she visited in Florida, California, and Paris, France with family and friends.
She had a special gift for bonding with people from all walks of life. She never met a stranger and all who knew her loved her. She made you feel important whether you knew her for 5 minutes or an entire life. She was a woman of few words that left a lasting impression with multitudes.
Dawn’s faith in God was the foundation of her entire life. She was raised attending Summerville Baptist Church in Denton until 1979 when Johnny and she went into the ministry. She had been a member of East Corinth Baptist Church in Gold Hill. Where her husband has been the pastor, for the past 46 years. She always relied on God to walk her through every step of life, in both the valleys and the mountain tops.
Dawn Carrick Daniel will be missed forever and will always be remembered by everyone she touched in her life. She will live on in the memories made, the adventures shared, and the moments treasured.
