David Owen

Mr. David Lindsay Owen, 54, of High Rock Dr., Lexington passed away on Friday, September, 14, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, Sept. 19 at Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Flynn Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with honors by Davidson County Public Safety Honor Guard.

David was born May 16, 1964 in Davidson County to Burnice Owen and Merle Hunt Owen. He was a member of Summerville Baptist Church and a Veteran of the United States Army having served in Operation Desert Storm. He was a graduate of GTCC Fire Academy and he also earned his Associate Degree in Fire Science. He was a Lieutenant with Southmont Fire Department for 11 years and had previously worked in the furniture industry. He was preceded in death by his father, Burnice Owen.

Surviving is wife, Donna Hornback Owen of the home; daughters, Valentina Owen and Saiema Schnatz both of Germany, and Monica Cochran of Lexington; sons, Joshua and Jeremy Cochran both of Lexington; Mother, Merle Owen of Denton; brother, Chris Owen (Sherry) of Denton; sisters, Sharon Bean and Donna Cottrell (Ernest) all of Denton; 7 grandchildren; Uncle, Robert Hunt (Doris) of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on High Rock Dr., Lexington.
