David Brian Kellis, 62, of Calera, Alabama, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022. He was born in Biscoe, North Carolina on March 23, 1960. After graduating from East Montgomery High School, David enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He later enjoyed a career in pest and termite control, opening his own business, Mr. Bugg's Pest Patrol, in 1984. He was a member of the Alabama Pest Control Association and the Birmingham Home Builders Association. David was passionate about making sure that his family's needs were, and are, always met. Next to spending time with his wife, his kids, and their families, his favorite way to spend his leisure was watching and cheering for Auburn Tigers football. David was preceded in death by his son, Corey Kellis; grandson, Will Schlotec; parents, Cam and Janie Kellis; sister, Julie LeGar. David is survived by his wife, Donna Brant Kellis, to whom he was married on April 10, 1993; daughters, Domini Jones (Mitch), Courtney Schlotec (Joby), Corky Adams (Brian), and Chelsea Carlson (Matt); grandchildren, Eli Schlotec, Micah Schlotec, Helen Schlotec, Oliver Kellis, Lawson Jones, Hudson Jones, Barrett Adams, Jude Carlson, and Charlie Carlson; sister and brothers, Terry Kirby (Dwight), Rom Kellis III (Robin), and Wayne Kellis (Debbie); and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. On Saturday, June 11, 2022, visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at Briggs Funeral Home in Biscoe, North Carolina, immediately followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Kellis Family Cemetery in Candor.
