Troy- Mr. David Stout Beaman of Troy, 87, died Sunday, September 14, 2008 at High Point Regional Hospital. A worship service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 19, in the sanctuary of Trinity United Methodist Church, 239 North Russell Street, Troy, North Carolina, with the Rev. Bobby Tyson officiating. Burial will follow in Southside Cemetery in Troy. Mr. Beaman was born August 9, 1921, the son of Charles G. and Dora Stout Beaman. David was a native of Troy and a long time resident. He attended school in Troy and upon graduation attended Pfeiffer Junior College where he studied Business and was on the tennis team. He returned to Troy after graduation to work at Belk Department Store. It is at this time that he met his wife and soul mate, Nell Fox from Candor. Shortly, after marriage, he was drafted into the Army during World War II. He came back to Troy to start a family with his wife Nell at the end of World War II. For many years, he was active in the Trinity United Methodist Church as the Superintendent of the Sunday school and also a Sunday school teacher for the middle school kids. In the community, he was a member of the Lion’s Club as well. He transferred with Belk to the Albemarle store where he worked until his retirement of 55 years service with Belk. He never met a stranger and had a wonderful way of making others feel at ease. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all those that new him. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Charles G. Beaman, Jr., Joseph F. Beaman and John Riley Beaman. He is survived by his wife Nell Fox Beaman, daughters, Linda Reidy and husband John Reidy of Kernersville, North Carolina, Cathy Brusack and husband John Brusack of Alpharetta, Georgia; sister, Alda Stokes of Wilmington; grandchildren, Amber Watson and husband Kevin, Ryan Brusack, Anna Brusack, Kate Brusack and John Paul Brusack; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Quinnlann and Keeley Watson. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM prior to the service Friday at Trinity UMC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 202 CentrePort Dr., Suite 100, Greensboro NC 27409. Briggs Funeral Home of Troy is in charge of arrangements.
