Danny Joe Johnson

Mr. Danny Joe Johnson, age 44 of Surratt Road, Denton, NC died Saturday, February 1 as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident in Randolph County.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm February 6, 2020 at Gravel Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Chaney and Rev. David Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Danny was born November 14, 1975 in Guilford County to Henry A. Johnson and Alice Christine Davis Johnson. He was the co-owner of Gate City Sports. He loved umpiring and coaching baseball through which he made an impact on so many children’s lives. Danny was a volunteer fireman with South Davidson Fire Department and with Sophia in earlier years. He had been employed with Cook Flooring and Remodeling.  He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather.  Danny’s proudest accomplishment would be his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Davis Johnson and by a granddaughter, Kimrey Lei Smith.

Survivors include; wife, Tonya Scarboro Johnson of the home; sons, Daniel Johnson of Denton, Nathan Johnson (Jessica) of Denton, and Dalin Johnson of the home; daughters, Kaytlyn Johnson, Cassandra J. Smith (Justin) all of Sophia, Natalie Soles and Addison Johnson both of the home; father and step-mother, Henry A. and Ronnie Johnson of Sophia; grandchildren, Emberlynn Beane, Madelyn Johnson, Regan Smith, Layla Smith, and Kaylee Johnson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frankie and Glenda Scarboro of Denton; sister-in-law, Stephanie Jones (Kevin); nephews Chance and Anson Freeze; nieces, Allyssa Freeze and Shelby Jones all of Denton; and countless friends and family.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Surratt Rd.
