Dallas Carrick

Mr. Dallas Garland (Shorty) Carrick, age 92 of Briggs Road, Lexington, NC died Wednesday, May 10 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 13, at 2:00 PM at Holloways Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dana Slack and Rev. Craig Barnhill. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence. Mr. Carrick was born March 3, 1925 in Davidson County to James Marvin Carrick and Virginia Essie Cross Carrick. He was a member of Holloways Baptist Church and a World War II veteran of the U S Army. He was the retired owner and operator of Shorty’s Service and Repair, a plumbing and heating repair company. He was preceded in death by parents, brothers, Clyde Carrick, Melvin Carrick and Ronald Carrick and sisters Leora Davis, Novelle Bean and Eunice Varner. He is survived by his wife, Jane Cody Carrick of the home, a daughter, Libby Carrick Gordon of Asheboro; grandsons, Chris Gordon and wife Sarah and Kyle Gordon and wife Tori all of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Jacob, Brett, Lauren, Connor and Evan; step-sons, Johnny Cook of Lexington and Gene Cook of Fredericksburg, Va.
