Corey David Kellis

Corey David Kellis, age 27 of Carlton, MN, was granted his freedom from life’s struggles on July 8, 2014 when he died from injuries sustained in a pedestrian/traffic accident in Hollywood, CA. He is finally at peace in the arms of his Lord after an all too brief, but tumultuous journey on earth. Corey fought and often succumbed too many of life’s most difficult battles, but will be remembered by his family and friends as a resourceful, intelligent, witty young man with a fun spirit, a big heart, and a love of family. Corey was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edsel “Cam” and Janie Kellis. Corey is survived by his parents, David (Donna) Kellis of Alabaster, AL; and Lynn (Steve) Habhegger of Carlton, MN; sisters Courtney (Joby) Schlotec of Duluth, Chelsea (Matt Carlson) Kellis of Duluth, Domini (Mitch) Jones of Calera, AL, Corky (Brian) Adams of Columbiana, AL, and Steph (Mike) Baasch of Duluth; brother Andrew Habhegger of Cloquet; maternal grandparents Leon and Nancy Finifrock of Barnum; eleven nieces and nephews, including Oliver “Ollie” Kellis who was the light of “Uncle Co-co’s” life; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, of special note are his uncles Wayne Kellis of Monroe, GA and Rom Kellis III of Gilbert, SC and their families for the guidance and love they provided throughout Corey’s life. Memorial Services were held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Barnum Community Methodist Church, with a visitation from 5:30 p.m. until the memorial service at 7:00 pm. A second service will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Briggs Funeral Home in Candor, NC. Interment is at the Kellis Cemetery also in Candor, NC
