Connie Gillis

Constance “Connie” Viola McDuffie Gillis, 75, of McDuffie Rd., Biscoe, died Sunday, June 29, 2014 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. Funeral Arrangements will be held at a later date. Born in Cumberland County on August 25, 1938, she was the daughter of Edward Homer and Annie Mae Carter McDuffie. She was a knitter at Candor Hosiery Mill. She was preceded in death by a son, Carl Edward Black, a Daughter, Constance Louise Maroney and a grand-daughter, Crystal Dawn Harrison. She is survived by 2 sons, John Thomas Black, Jr and wife Tina, and Francis Christopher Black and wife Sabrina; 2 brothers, Mark Carter McDuffie and wife Sue and William Douglas McDuffie and wife Clara Sue; 2 Sisters, Donna Marie Wilkes and husband Leonard and Hope Overby; 1 grandchild, Alisha Nicole Boswell and 1 great-grandchild, Cadence Dawn Boswell. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Rd., Pinehurst NC 28374. Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
