James Clinton Hedrick, age 73, of Denton died unexpectedly Wednesday, January 8 at Wake Forest Baptist - Lexington Medical Center. Funeral service for Mr. Hedrick will be 3:00 pm Sunday, January 12 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lexington with Pastor J. C. Miles and Rev. Wayne Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Denton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home. Mr. Hedrick was born March 15, 1940 in Davidson County to Dewey Lee and Maude Frank Hedrick. He attended Denton High School and had worked with Coble Dairy and Merita Bread. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a talented craftsman, weaving and sharing many of his baskets with others. In earlier years he enjoyed creating furniture pieces for his family. He was an avid collector of hens on the nest, enjoying time at flea markets and yard sales in search of them. Mr. Hedrick was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bruce and Reece Hedrick. He is survived by his wife, Frankie Pendergast Hedrick of the home, one son, Jimmy Hedrick and wife Lisa of Denton, two daughters, Debbie McKinney and husband Jeff of Denton and Judy Freeman and husband Nathan of Cramerton, two brothers, Wayne Hedrick and wife Edna of High Point and Ronald (R. L.) Hedrick and wife Chris of Denton. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Matthew McKinney, Ashley McKinney, Stephanie Hedrick, Jena Hedrick and Danielle Freeman Caple and husband Kalen.
