Mr. C. Clifton “Cliff” Carrick, age 92 of Newsom Lane, Denton, NC died Wednesday, March 8 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 11 at Summerville Baptist Church. Burial with Military Honors will be held in the Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of the son, Mike Carrick. Mr. Carrick was born December 22, 1924 in Davidson County to Carlie Phillip Carrick and Julie Ree Peacock Carrick. He was the retired owner and operator of Denton Plumbing and Heating. He was a charter member of Mountain View Baptist Church and was a current active member of Summerville Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, SS Director and on the Cemetery Committee. He was a charter member of the Healing Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He had been a member of the Denton Linos Club and served on the Board of Directors of Mountain Vista Health Park. He was a World War II Veteran of the U S Navy serving in the Pacific, and a charter member of the USS LST 277 Naval Group. He was married to Dorothy “Dot” Newsom Carrick who died April 8, 2008. He was also preceded in death by a brother Claude Calvin Carrick and a sister Lucy Carrick Lemly. He is survived by sons, Michael Leon Carrick and wife Carla and Lonnie Thomas “Tommy” Carrick all of Denton; sister Pauline Warfford of Southmont; grandchildren Casey Carrick and wife Anna, Kenny Carrick and Sarah Carrick; great grandchild, Parks Michael Carrick.
