Clayton Elwood Greene

Clayton Elwood Greene, 95, of Lovin Hill Rd., died Saturday, August 27, 2022 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.  Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating.  Burial will follow in Candor Cemetery.

Born in Montgomery County on July 15, 1927, he was the son of Atlas and Minnie Richardson Greene.  He was a member of Center Baptist Church and had retired from the furniture industry.  He was a veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Faye Greene, step-daughter, Sandrell Ashworth, sisters, Connie Kennedy, Glennie Dunn, Sadie Bowles; brothers, A.C. Greene, Jr., Manley Greene, Arlie Greene and Ellis Greene.

Clayton is survived by his wife, Cozette Haywood Greene of the home; sons, Bobby, Jerry, and Sammy Greene; daughters, Sandy Powell and Brenda Adams; stepdaughter, Evelyn Parsons; sister, Lela G. Thompson; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1-2 PM prior to the service at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home.
