Clarence Loflin

Mr. Clarence Harold Loflin, age 81 of Skeen Road, Denton, NC died Tuesday, July 19 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 22 at Siloam United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Sandy Young, Rev. James T. Webb and Rev. Claudie Harrison. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens Mr. Loflin was born December 9, 1929 in Davidson County to Fred H. Loflin and Pearl Snider Loflin. He graduated from Denton High School in 1947 and attended N C State College for two years. He was a member and attended Siloam Untied Methodist Church his entire life. He had served his Church on all the boards and committees and also served as Sunday School Teacher. He was a lifelong farmer and was named “Young Farmer of the Year” by the Denton Jaycees in 1960. He served as a supervisor with the Soil and Water Conservation Board for 31 years. He was selected by N C State University to serve on the Davidson County Extension Advisory Board. He received the Good Earth Conservation Award as State Farm Family from Governor James Martin in 1990. He was the 1990 State Award Winner of the National Endowment for Soil & Water. In 1992 he was named to the N C Pork Producers Board of Directors and was a delegate to the National Board of Pork Producers. Mr. Loflin served several terms on the board of directors of Mountain Vista Health Park, Inc. He and his family hosted numerous Field Days for local school students. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Garner Loflin of the home, a son Dennis Loflin and wife Cheree of Denton; a daughter Vickie Loflin Beaver and husband Donald of Conover; grandchildren, Christie Carroll Garner and husband Kevin and Callan Loflin all of Denton; Great Grandchildren, Hannah Garner and Stephen Garner. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.
