Clara Hoover Smith

Mrs. Clara Hoover Smith, 88, of NC HWY 47 Denton, NC passed from life to everlasting life on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 10 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Pastor Wendyl Floyd officiating. Interment will follow at Denton Town Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was a devoted wife, mother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law. She was born September 27, 1931 in Randolph County to the late Duke Hoover and Nora Kinley Hoover. She was a member of Lights for Christ Holiness Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 3 brothers; 4 sisters; and one grandson, David Surratt.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 70 years, Marshall Smith; daughters, Pansy Hunt (Doug), Donice Loflin (Roger), and Patricia Smith; 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; 1 great-great- grandchild;  and sister, Wilma Patterson.

The family is grateful to two special caregivers Carrie Thomas and Clara Gailey for the loving care they gave our mother. We are grateful and blessed also for the good care provided by Dr. Clifton Baker and his staff and by the entire staff of Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton.
