Clara Barefoot

Mrs. Clara Surratt Barefoot age 83, of Loftin Rd. Denton passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 11 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Richard J. Gould. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Clara was born February 2, 1933 in Caswell County to Rupert Fletcher Surratt and Mazie Vale Cook Surratt. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and had worked for Burlington Industries and Ultra Mek. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Barefoot, Jr, by a grandson, Michael Barefoot and by a sister Rachel Plowman. Surviving are sons, Robert Earl Barefoot and James Fletcher Barefoot both of Denton; 2 step grandchildren, Sammy and Kenny Jermane. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
