Charlotte Bean Hunt

December 14, 1927 — May 15, 2019

Charlotte Bean Hunt passed away in her hometown of Denton, N.C. on May 15, 2019.    Charlotte had a warm and generous heart, and a deep and abiding faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Charlotte was born in Davidson County, N.C. on December 14, 1927 to the late Walter Dewy Bean and Edna Davis Bean.  She was also pre-deceased by her husband Edgar Hunt, sister Laurene Loflin, and brother Dewey Bean.  Charlotte is survived by her children Norman (Geraldine) Hunt and Douglas (Pansy) Hunt -Denton, NC, Hilda Coggins (Jim)- Fredonia, WI, Rosemary Speight (John)-Lorton, VA, and Ed (Jerre) Hunt- Fleming Island, FL.  Charlotte’s grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great joy.  Grandchildren are:  Wendy Hunt (Jerry) Hedrick- San Antonio, TX, Brian Hunt- Venice Beach, CA, Jason Coggins-Chicago, IL, Christopher (Becky) Coggins- Hubertus, WI, Taylor Speight and Hunter Speight-Lorton, VA, Cameron (Taryn) Hunt-Jacksonville, FL, Adam Hunt- Tallahassee, FL, Meredith Hunt- Fleming Island, FL, Amy (James) Spaugh- Hertford, NC, and Chad (Shelly) Gallimore-Pleasant Garden, NC.  Great Grandchildren are: Brandon (Corey) Hedrick- Oklahoma City, OK, Dustin Hedrick-San Antonio, TX, Adelyn and Jameson Coggins- Ubertus, WI, Kendall (Emily) Spaugh-PA, Kaleb (Casey) Spaugh-PA, and Katherine Spaugh-Hertford, NC.   She is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was a 1945 graduate of Denton High School; and was the Director of First Baptist Child Learning (Denton) at the time of her retirement.   Charlotte was a mentor for the Davidson County Community College Early Childhood Education Program for many years, a volunteer for the Davidson County Crisis Hot Line, an active member of First United Methodist Church (Denton), and later an active member of Bethel Baptist Church (Denton).

Visitation will be held on Friday 5/17/19 at Briggs Funeral Home (103 East Salisbury Street, Denton, N.C.) from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.   A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday 5/18/19 at Bethel Baptist Church (159 Klopman Mill Road, Denton, N.C.) at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens (Denton, N.C.).

Memorials may be directed to the Joseph and Kathleen Bryan Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Duke University (Durham, N.C.), The Early Childhood Education Program at the Davidson County Community College (Lexington, N.C.), Bethel Baptist Church (Denton, N.C.), Hospice of Randolph County (Asheboro, N.C.) or to the charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain Vista Health Park, and Dr. Clifton Baker for the loving care that was given to our mother during her long journey.  The family also appreciates the loving care given by Hospice of Randolph County.
