Charlie Benson Haywood, Jr., 90, of Research Farm Rd., Norman, died Sunday, April 12, 2015 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Norman, where he was a member, with burial to follow in the Norman Community Cemetery. Born in Montgomery County on November 22, 1924, he was the son of Charlie Benson and Jenny Macon Haywood. He enjoyed farming his whole life and served at First Baptist Church as Chairman of Deacons and Adult Sunday School Teacher for many years.He worked as a weaver and retired from JP Stevens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell in 2001, son, Roger Haywood, daughter, Kathy Haywood and 2 grandchildren, Rodney and Lynn Haywood. He is survived by 6 daughters, Janice Hancock (John) of Asheboro, Carol Hamilton (Roger) of Norman, Eva Pritchard (Lawrence) of Eagle Springs, Debbie Mabe (Mike) of Ellerbe, Judy Kinlaw (Jerry) of Asheboro and Tamala Frye (John) of Whispering Pines; 18 Grandchildren; 16 Great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home.
