Charles Anthony Stone, 85, of Denton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at his residence. Born on May 29, 1940, in Guilford County, he was the son of Floyd Wesley Stone and Teresa Berry Stone, who have preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his brothers James, Richard, and David Stone as well as sisters, Elizabeth Vinacco and Mavis Heon.
Charles was a beloved husband to Carolyn Ann Hodgin Stone, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to his son, Chuck Stone, and his wife Danine, of Denton and his daughter, Donna Stone of Denton. He cherished the role of grandfather to Taylor Stone and his wife Desirae, and Sierra Stone, as well as being a great-grandfather to Ryder, Rhett, and Olivia Stone, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
For many years, Charles worked for Eastern Airlines as a grounds crewman before embracing his passion as a Ferrier. His love for horses extended beyond his professional life, as he enjoyed showing them and sharing that joy with family and friends. Charles also had a deep-seated passion for music; he was a man of Christian faith who shared his love of singing and playing guitar with The Gloryland Band.
A proud car enthusiast, Charles dedicated much of his time to restoring classic cars, particularly his cherished 1999 Ford Mustang - a vehicle he dreamed of seeing his grandson drag race one day. Charles’ warm spirit and commitment to his family harmonized beautifully with his hobbies and professional pursuits, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, his son Chuck, his daughter Donna, his brother Paul Stone of Gibsonville, and his adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
A memorial service to honor Charles' life will take place on December 6, 2025, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Denton officiated by Mr. Larry Wright, beginning at 2:00 PM. Memorials in memory of Charles can be made to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way Lexington, NC 27292.
