Charles "Chuck" was born and raised in Groveport, Ohio where he became an Ohio State fan. He earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching on the GI Bill after serving as a weatherman during the Korean War and a Masters from Florida Atlantic. Chuck moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1956 when it was “nothing but everglades” and began his teaching and guidance counseling career that spanned for more than three decades. Chuck also umpired and coached little league baseball to supplement his teaching salary. He loved working with and talking to young people. It was through his teaching that he met the love of his life Ola Myrick, they were married for almost 50 years! Chuck and Ola had a wonderful retirement traveling and playing golf together. Chuck was always a fitness “nut”. He loved working out in the fitness room and his daily walks and greeting familiar dogs along the way. His most prized achievement was to climb Mt Rainier in 1979! Chuck was a friend to all. He loved chatting with the P.A.L.S. and dining room workers at Belmont Village, which was his home for the last 2 years. His smile, story-telling, and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. Chuck is survived by his nephews, Joseph (Kathryn) Langley, Robert Gemienhardt, nieces Jill (Tom) Minor and Annalee (Kurt) Engel, brother-in-law Edward (Becky) Myrick and additional extended family members.
