Charles Nicholson, Jr.

Mr. Charles Nicholson, Jr, 91, of Floyd St., Denton, NC passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, April 25, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Derald Smith officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at VA National Cemetery in Salisbury.

Charles was born August 28, 1931, in Guilford County, NC to Charles Clansford Nicholson, Sr. and Laxie Ola Queen Nicholson. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and of the Methodist faith. Working as a salesman in the airline industry, Charles worked for Atlantic Aero Inc., Ryder, and Aviall until his retirement. Following retirement Charles along with wife Donna, moved to The Villages Retirement Community in Florida. At The Villages Charles enjoyed playing golf 3-4 times a week. Charles was an avid gardener that enjoyed working in his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Nicholson of the home; daughters, Debra Nicholson Blackman (Daniel) of Madison, Sharon Nicholson Parsons (Dean) of Denton, and Faye Nicholson Greene (David Yarbrough) of Youngsville; stepdaughter, Gia Conley (Brian) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; stepson, Eric Coddington (Renee) of Middletown, DE; sister, Alma Bryant of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM prior to the service at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
