Charles Edward Lax

Mr. Charles Edward Lax, age 79 of South NC Hwy 49, Denton, NC died Tuesday, January 4 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 7 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Chris Smith. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Lax was born May 22, 1931 in Davidson County to Henry C. Lax and Lizzie Lanier Lax. He was a long time farmer and had been active in many farm organizations. He was a former board member of the Davidson County Farm Bureau and the local ASCS Board. He was married to Frances Starr Lax who died March 7, 2001. Mr. Lax is survived by daughters, Jenny Fowler and Kim Smith both of Denton; a brother, Joe Lax and sisters Doris Cook and Carleen Terrell all of Denton; grandchildren, Tina Chamberlin, Jessica Smith and Josh Smith and a great grandchild, Lizzie Chamberlin. The family will see friends from Noon until 1:30 PM Friday prior to the service at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
