Mr. Charles Robertson Johnson, age 80 of Handy Road, Denton, NC died Sunday, February 12 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 15 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Chris Smith and Dr. Keith Carroll. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times will be at the residence on Handy Road. Mr. Johnson was born August 18, 1931 in Davidson County to Joseph Worth Johnson and Martha Smith Johnson. He was a self-employed farmer and had worked as a transporter for Davis Chevrolet in Lexington. Mr. Johnson was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, a member of Denton Lodge # 404 AF & AM and a veteran of the U S Navy. He was a longtime member of the Davidson County Zoning Board of Adjustments.. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lanier Johnson of the home; a son Scott Johnson and wife Sherry of Denton; a daughter Jill J. Storey and husband Stephen of Thomasville; grandchildren Ridge Storey and Lleyton Storey; a sister Ruby J. Loflin and husband Brown of Denton; and a brother Howard P. Johnson of Denton. Memorials may be made to the charity of the Donor’s Choice.
