Charles Richardson “Chick” Jarrell of Wickliff Ave., High Point, NC, a lifelong High Point resident passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 2 2006 after a period of declining health. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 6 at High Point Friends Meeting House,conducted by Rev. Billy Britt and Rev. David Kingrey with burial to follow at Springfield Friends Meeting Cemetery Mr. Jarrell was the son of the late Thomas Marvin and Esther Kirkman Jarrell and was the sixth of eight children. Charles, fondly known to friends and family as “Chick” was educated in the High Point City Schools and graduated from High Point College and Wake Forest College School of Law. Chick was a loyal Deamon Deacon and supporter of his schools athletic teams. Chick had a general practice of law in High Point for over 60 years, handling all manner of cases. He took special pride in representing those less fortunate. Chick received an award from the North Carolina State Bar for having practiced 50 years. Chick, a birthright Quaker was a member of High Point Friends Meeting and its Brotherhood Class. He was a longtime member of the High Point Jaycees and the Toastmaster Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, William Marvin Jarrell, Ruth Jarrell Hoover, Annie Lee Jarrell, Harriss Hassell Jarrell, Joseph Parker Jarrell and Howard Carl Jarrell. He is survived by the following: Brother, Dr. Harold Thomas Jarrell and sister-in-law Mary Long Jarrell of High Point. NEPHEW: Judge H. Thomas Jarrell, Jr. and wife Cynthia Jarrell of High Point NIECES: Jennie Jarrell Hayman and husband Wilson Hayman of Raleigh and Margaret Hayden Jarrell Herke and husband John of Denton. GREAT NEPHEWS AND NIECES: William Jarrell, III; Meredith Phillips, Jesse Jarrell, Will Hayman, Thomas Jarrell, Robert Jarrell and David Jarrell. Visitation will be at the residence 1011 Wickliff Ave from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Wednesday July 5. Memorials may be made to High Point Friends Meeting, 600 Quaker Lane, High Point, NC 27262 or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
