Charles "Cotton" Surratt

Mr. Charles Spencer “Cotton” Surratt age 81 of Garner Rd., Denton passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at VA Medical Center, Liberty Lane Hospice House in Salisbury, NC. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church located at 2565 Loftin Rd. Denton, NC conducted by Rev. Richard J. Gould, Rev. Scott Davis, and Mr. Richard Smith. Interment will be private in the church cemetery. “Cotton” was born August 17, 1935 in Davidson County to John Roosevelt Surratt and Ellie Estella Smith Surratt. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and had worked in the hosiery and forestry industries. He served his country as a Sargent in the United States Army and was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Surratt. Surviving are daughter, Gay McClure (Richard) of Lexington; granddaughters, Michelle Allen (Mitchel) of Winston Salem and Jennifer Harrison (Perry) of Thomasville; great-grandson, Tevan Hilton of Lexington.se in Sal Memorials can be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund in c/o Carol Glover PO Box 1273 Denton, NC 27239.
