Charles Bruton

Mr. Charles Glenn Bruton, Jr. age 74 of Pendale Road, Charlotte and formerly of Candor died Saturday, July 3 at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, NC Graveside service will be held Monday, July 5 at 2:30 PM at Candor Town Cemetery conducted by Rev. Pat Sykes Mr. Bruton was born May 23, 1936 in Montgomery County to Charles Glenn Bruton, Sr. and Rosa Burkhead Bruton. He was a graduate of Pfeiffer University and was a retired school teacher having worked at Rockingham Junior High School in Rockingham for a number of years. Charles was a member of Candor United Methodist Church and Biscoe Lodge # 437 AF & AM. He was a veteran of the U S Army. Mr. Bruton is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Scott Bruton of the home; a son, T. Wade Bruton, II and wife Susan of Charlotte; a daughter Betsy B. Cooney and husband Jim of Charlotte; a sister Pat Barrows of Foxboro, Mass.; grandchildren, Katherine Tooley and husband Mike, Margaret Cooney, Caroline Cooney and Elizabeth Bruton; a great grandchild, Parker Lily Tooley. The family will see friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Monday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, 187 Farmers Market Road, Candor, NC 27229.
