C.M. Laughridge, 77, of Daniel Street, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at High Rock Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. John Gobble officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He was a native of McDowell County, a bridge foreman for CSX — Southbound Railway and a deacon at his church. Surviving are wife, Janice Meshaw Laughridge of the home; son, Joseph “Joe” Laughridge of Lexington; daughters, Martha Bailey of Denton, Laura Jean “Mickey” Leviner of Farmer, Linda Laughridge of Arat, Va.; stepson, Eddie Buffkin of Lumberton; stepdaughters, Peggy Hanes of Lexington, Melody Hughes of Asheboro; brother, J.L. Laughridge of Hickory; sister, Ruby Causely of Morganton; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
