Mr. Bryce Hedrick Floyd, age 88 of NC Hwy # 47, Denton, NC died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 26 at New Jerusalem United Church of Christ conducted by Rev. Jimmy Norred. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. The family will see friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home. Mr. Floyd was born September 30, 1926 in Davidson County to Lauton Lewis Floyd and Elsie Hedrick Floyd. He was a1943 graduate of Denton High School and attended Mars Hill College. He was a longtime partner in Bill’s Hosiery Mill in Denton. He was a member of New Jerusalem United Church of Christ where he had served as a Deacon and Elder. He was a member of the Denton Lions Club and had served as Treasurer of the club for many years. He was married to Geraldine Smith Floyd who died April 22, 2005. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Arlene Sturdivant, Edith Regan and Kate Bivens. He is survived by a son, Phil Floyd of Denton; daughter Janet Floyd Hill and husband David of Advance; sister, Joan Hammond of Asheboro; granddaughter Kristin Linker and husband Mason; great grandchildren Molly Linker and Bo Linker; caregiver and friend Juana Eads.
