Mrs. Brenda Hurley Sanders, age 60, of NC Hwy. 109, New London died Sunday, September 4 at Randolph Hospital. Funeral service for Mrs. Sanders will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, September 7 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Brown and Rev. Derald Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Flag Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 pm Wednesday, prior to the service, at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home on NC Hwy. 109. Mrs. Sanders was born January 24, 1951 in Randolph County to Harvey and Myrtle Woodell Hurley. She had worked at Burlington Industries and later operated a housecleaning service. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Carson Sanders, Jr. and brothers, Gene Hurley, Robert Hurley and George Hurley. Mrs. Sanders is survived by one son, Allen Sanders and wife Laura of Denton, three daughters, Amanda Carter and husband Doug of Southern Pines, Brenda Arlene Sanders of New London and Wendy Metcalf and husband Richard of Denton, daughter-in-law Tammy Sanders of Denton, brothers, Vernon Hurley and Worth Hurley, both of Asheboro, Charles Hurley of Denton and John Hurley of Whitsett, sisters, Cora Beane of Asheboro, Dianne Wolford and Helen Brady, both of Elon, Shirley Brady of Gibsonville and Betty Locklear of Trinity, thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
